Austrian Society for German Studies

The Austrian Society for German Studies is an Austrian scientific society founded in 1992 .

General

The society was founded in 1992 at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Vienna on the initiative of Wendelin Schmidt-Dengler , who was also its first president until 1996.

The society deals with linguistic and literary matters in the narrower and broader sense and also serves to represent the interests of scientists who work at university and non-university German research institutes or related projects.

The society organizes conferences on a regular basis and there is the publication organ Stimulus published by the society .

Awards

The Society for German Studies awards the national and international " Wendelin-Schmidt-Dengler Prize".
