Austrian Dog Sports Union
The Austrian Dog Sports Union ( ÖHU ) is an umbrella organization for the Austrian breed of dog breeding and training .
It was founded in 1954 by Walter Winkler from Salzburg as an association whose purpose was to look after breeders of pedigree dogs and to promote dog sports . Co-founders were also Karl Hofbauer, Rudolf Krumhart and Anton Mosleitner. Other associations followed suit and so the ÖHU became the umbrella organization of many like-minded associations that deal with the breeding of pedigree dogs and the training of pedigree dogs and mixed breeds . In 2001, after 47 years of presidency, Walter Winkler died at the age of 85.
