Austrian Mycological Society

The Austrian Mycological Society , or ÖMG for short, is the professional representation of mycologists in Austria . It represents practical and scientific mycology and is open to anyone interested.

history

It goes back to a mycological society that was founded in 1919 by Viktor Schiffner (1862–1944), Heinrich Lohwag (1884–1945) and Thomas Cernohorsky (1882–1956). Viktor Schiffner was also its first president. In 1929 it was renamed to its current name. During the Second World War it was merged with the German Society for Mushroom Science, Berlin, to form the German Mycological Society based in Vienna. In 1945 the re-establishment took place.

activity

She organizes a series of lectures and excursions every year. During the mushroom season she also provides mushroom advice in the Faculty Center Biodiversity (former Institute for Botany) in Vienna.

Publications

In addition to the communications of the Austrian Mycological Society, the ÖMG has published the Austrian Journal for Pilzkunde once a year since 1991 and the communications of the Austrian Mycological Society .
