The Austrian Association for Art and Design Therapists - or ÖFKG for short - was founded in 1997 on the one hand to represent professional art therapists in Austria and on the other hand to ensure the quality of the continuing education landscape as a successor to the Austrian Society for Art and Therapy . The ÖFKG represents the professional interests of those art therapists and advanced training courses in Austria who meet the official framework curriculum and thus the standards of ECArTE - The European Consortium for Arts Therapies Education - on a European level. The aim is national and European professional and training law recognition of art therapy as a psychotherapeutic method according to the Austrian Psychotherapy Act .
