The Gabelsberger-Gymnasium Mainburg (GGM) is one of the three high schools in the Kelheim district , Lower Bavaria .

history

School operations began after approval by the Allies in 1945 under the name Mainburg Oberschule. In 1968 she was given the name "Gabelsberger Gymnasium". The name was given by the inventor of the shorthand Franz Xaver Gabelsberger , whose grandfather came from Mainburg.

After various renovations and extensions, around 1,100 students are now being taught. This makes it one of the largest high schools in the Lower Bavaria district .

69 full-time teachers teach at the school (as of 2017/2018).

Training directions

The GGM began as a "mathematical-scientific" high school. In the natural sciences, the language sequence is English, Latin or French.

It now also has a "linguistic" branch with the language sequence English, Latin and French and an "economic and social science " branch with the language sequence English, Latin or French. Since the 2009/2010 school year it has also been possible to choose Spanish instead of the first or second foreign language from the tenth grade onwards.

The high school is a base school for handball, water rescue and other water sports. It also has an observatory .
