The Þrándarjökull is a small glacial shield in the southeast Islands .

It is located about 20 km east of Vatnajökull and is 1236 m high with an area of ​​22 km².

The mountain Sunnutindur (1137 m) protrudes from it.

Streams from its slopes feed the rivers Geithellnaá and in the north the Hamarsá .

The glacier is receding due to global warming. Its expansion was 15 square kilometers in 2012, 17 km² in 2003, but 33.5 km² in 1890.
