Salawaneš
The Šalawaneš are Hittite gate deities who were worshiped at city gates . During the AN.TAḪ.ŠUM festival and the purulliya festival , the king made sacrifices to them at the ašuša city gate of Ḫattuša . Sacrifices for the Šalawaneš are also attested for the cities of Ḫanḫana and Tauriša .
The Damnaššara sphinxes have a similar function as gatekeepers .
