ŽRK Koka Varaždin is a women's handball club from the northern Croatian city of Varaždin . The abbreviation “ŽRK” stands for “Ženski Rukometni Klub”, in German: women's handball club.
history
On January 19, 1969, with the entry of the sponsor Koka , it was decided to outsource the women's department of the handball club RK Sloboda Varaždin. The club Sloboda, founded in 1958, was always in financial difficulties, so it was ultimately split up. The football department was continued, the men's handball went to RK Varteks Varaždin , the women were re-established in ŽRK Koka, while the volleyball players continued to exist. After the club was founded, Sloboda Varaždin took over the starting place in the Zagreb Regional League in which they immediately secured the championship. In the Croatian League (2nd Yugoslav League) they finished second in the following year, but then secured promotion to the 1st Yugoslav League via relegation, in which they only stayed for 1 year. Until the breakup of Yugoslavia, they played in the 2nd Yugoslav League, the Croatian Republican League (3rd League) and the Croatian Regional League (4th League).
In the newly founded Croatian league, from 1990 onwards, they only played in the 1st B league, which they were able to complete as champions in 1998/99. After the promotion to the 1st Croatian league followed 5 years later again the relegation to league 2. Two years later they managed to get promoted to the first league, in which they remain until today.

Hall
The Varaždin Sports Hall is located at 31 Graberje Street, 42000, Varaždin. The grandstand is on one side of the hall. In addition to the handball club, the hall is also used by the secondary school and other sports clubs from Varaždin.
