'Cause I Love You

'Cause I Love You ( Japanese. す き。 だ か ら す き , Suki. Dakara Suki , German for "because I love you") is a manga series by the Japanese team of artists Clamp from 1999. The main artist of the manga was Tsubaki Nekoi.

The manga, which tells a love story between a student and her teacher, is aimed at girls and can therefore be classified as part of the Shōjo genre.

action

The 16-year-old girl Hinata Asahi ( 旭 ひ な た ) lives alone in a large villa because her father is constantly on business trips. However, she is not alone, because she has two good friends by her side: Emi and Toko. When Shirō Asō ( 麻 生 史 郎 ) moves into her neighboring house, she immediately finds the young man likeable. It turns out that Shirō is the new substitute teacher who will teach Hinata and her class until further notice. From now on, the two of them often spend time together, going to school and eating together. The naive Hinata falls in love with the young man, but her friends are suspicious.

Soon Shirō Hinata introduces a friend, the writer Tomoaki Namiya ( 奈 宮 智 秋 ), author of children's books and pornographic novels. He also wrote Hinata's favorite children's book series. Eventually it turns out that Shirō was hired as a bodyguard by Hinata's father to protect him. He cannot reciprocate her feelings either, he has already been disappointed by the love for a customer.

style

In contrast to other works by the Clamp group, Cause I Love You does not make use of detailed backgrounds, the style is simple and clear. This is due to the fact that the Tsubaki Nekoi took over the drawings.

Publications

The manga was published in Japan from 1999 to 2000 in individual chapters in the monthly manga magazine Asuka Mystery DX . The Kadokawa-Shoten- Verlag published these individual chapters in three edited volumes.

Egmont Manga and Anime published the three volumes of 'Cause I Love You' from July 2004 to January 2005 in German translation. The manga has been translated into English as Suki: A Like Story , into Spanish as Me gusta porque me gusta and into French as J'aime ce que j'aime .

reception

According to splashcomics.de, Cause I Love You is a "sweet short story" with a "fresh look", but it takes some getting used to for fans of the artist group Clamp. Nevertheless, the manga is "entertaining reading fun", especially due to the arguments between the three friends and Hinata's childish behavior.
