(((echo)))

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(((echo))) and triple clamps (English: triple Parentheses ) are names for the anti-Semitic symbol that consists highlight the names of people or organizations with triple brackets that supposedly would require an "Jewish identity" "anti- white “represent political positions.

The practice originated in the United States in 2014 , initiated by the alt-right blog The Right Stuff ; the editors of the blog had stated that the triple brackets were intended to symbolize that the historical deeds of the Jews had led to their names "echoing through history" ("all Jewish surnames echo through history"). The triple brackets were then used, especially on Twitter and 4chan, by anti-Semites , neo-Nazis and white nationalists as online stigmatization to target people with a Jewish background for online harassment, discrimination andIdentify hate speech , such as Jewish political journalists who criticized Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential campaign . The anti-Semitism non-governmental organization Anti-Defamation League has had the triple brackets in its database of hate symbols since 2016. Since the use became known and publicly discussed in June 2016, numerous journalists and users of social media around the world have shown solidarity with those affected and even put the three brackets around their names.
