1. German Association of Noble Cat Breeders
The 1st German Edelkatzenzüchter-Verband e. V. briefly first DEKZV is the oldest and one of the largest cat clubs.
history
It was named “1. German Angora Cats Protection and Breeding Association ”founded in Nuremberg. He joined the FIFe in 1951 and is so far the only German member listed there. The 1st DEKZV now has around 700 members. 24 association groups are shown, which are increasingly being transformed into “patronage associations” due to resolutions of the FIFe, of which eight exist so far.
Services
A basic service of the association is the publication of the association magazine "Die Edelkatze". Each member receives it automatically. The association maintains local groups where interested parties meet regularly. Much of the work of the association deals with the breeding of pedigree cats. He has drawn up breeding and keeping guidelines that the members have to adhere to. A stud book is also kept for the cat breeders and family trees are issued. At least once a month there is a cat show, mainly in the western federal states.
Other activities
In the 1st DEKZV there are various interest groups that mainly deal with certain cat breeds, the largest European group is the IG British Shorthair. The 1. DEKZV, together with other associations, intends to relativize the determination of torture breeding in white cats made in the course of the expert opinion on the interpretation of Section 11b of the Animal Welfare Act by means of a population genetic analysis.
