The 1st Division Amateurs is the third division in Belgian football. The current name has been used since the 2016/17 season. Since then you have 16 teams.

history

The league was introduced for the 1926-27 season. From the 1952/53 season to the 2015/16 season it was called the 3rd Division and was ultimately organized in two seasons (3rd Division A and 3rd Division B) with 18 participating teams each.

The 1st Division Amateurs is the only league organized by the Royal Belgian Football Association itself. Divisions 1A and 1B are organized by Pro League ; the lower divisions from the Flemish or Walloon regional football association. Therefore, the 1st division amateurs is also known as the first national (Flemish) or Nationale première (French).
