The OSHA incident rate (OSHA incident rate) is a method of calculating lost time due to occupational accidents .

The event frequency (Total Recordable Injury Rate, TRIR) is calculated from the number of registered accidents including fatalities (FAT), accidents with lost time (LTC), medical treatment (MTC) and reduced work capacity (RWC) per 200,000 hours worked:

  • Lost Work Day Rate = (total number of absent days × 200,000) / number of hours actually worked.
  • Severity rate = total number of days absent / total number of accidents at work = accident severity.

Germany

In Germany, the comparable 1000-man quota (TMQ) is used in the company accident statistics.

Formula: (number of reportable industrial accidents × 1000 employees) / number of full-time employees.

More precisely: number of notifiable industrial accidents × 1000 × number of average hours worked per employee and year (value is published annually by the employers' liability insurance association) / number of total hours worked in the year
