The 1chipMSX or the ESE MSX System 3 is an MSX-2 system from D4 Enterprise . It was launched in Japan in 2006 .

description

The 1chipMSX is a new implementation of the MSX-2 standard in an Altera Cyclone EP1C12Q240C8N FPGA chip. The system has a transparent blue housing and two slots for MSX cartridges and two joystick interfaces. The device has various video outputs ( S-Video , Composite Video , VGA ), a PS / 2 keyboard input as well as two USB interfaces and an SD / MCC card slot. Two audio outputs are prepared for stereo sound implementation in a later generation.

The missing disk drive is compensated for by emulating disk files on the SD / MMC cards. It is also possible to boot from SD / MMC cards.

The Japanese version could not be sold in Europe because of RoHS . A European version is being planned, but has not yet been launched.
