from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 6th book of Esra (also: VI. Esra ; abbreviation: 6Esr ) is a Christian extension of the fourth book of Esra . It dates from the 2nd century AD and is only preserved in the Latin Bible , but not in the oriental Bible translations. The 6th book of Ezra consists of two chapters and is a continuation of the 4th book of Ezra.

Ezra is not mentioned directly in the 6th book . The first part (1: 1–13) addresses the sinful world that persecutes God's people, especially in Egypt. The second (1.14–19) threatens the whole world with punishments for their cockiness. The third part (1.22-27) announces punishments for apostate Jews. The fourth piece (1.28–45) tells of the struggles of the Arabs and Karmanians, of terrible bloodbaths and horrible devastation and the destruction of Babylon. The fifth piece (1.46–63) threatens Asia with severe plagues because of God's elect. The sixth section (2.1–35) threatens Babylon, which has not yet been destroyed here, with Asia, Egypt and Syria, devastation. The seventh part (2.36–78) threatens different groups of people with a judgment, recommends humility (2.54) and open confession of sin (2.64) and encourages the believers for the coming persecution.
