Aïcha Garad Ali (born December 28, 1966 ) is a Djiboutian sports official.

Life

Aïcha Garad Ali was an active handball player. She was appointed to the Djiboutian women's handball team, where she was later appointed team leader. After her active career, she took over the office of national coach.

In 1987 she received the Certificat d'aptitude au professorat d'éducation physique et sportive (CAPEPS) in Abidjan ( Ivory Coast ) and was henceforth a trained sports educator. Between 1987 and 1991 Garad Ali worked as a physical education teacher at universities. From 1991 to 1993 she took on a position as a consultant for university teachers.

She speaks French , English and Arabic .

Positions in sports associations and within the IOC

From 1987 to 1993 Garad Ali was the vice-president of the Djiboutian handball association. Between 1999 and 2005 she chaired the Women's Sports Commission of the Djibouti Ministry of Youth and Sports. In 2004 she was appointed Secretary General of the National Sports Commission for the Reformation of the Djiboutian Olympic and Sports Movement. She has been the President of the NOK Djibouti since 2005 and was re-elected in this position in 2013 and 2017.

In 2012, Aïcha Garad Ali was elected an IOC member. From 2013 to 2015 she was a member of the IOC Commission for Women and Sport, and from 2014 to 2015 of the IOC Commission for Culture and Education. Since 2015 she has been a member of the IOC Commissions on Women's Sports and Culture and Olympic Heritage.
