Aššur-iddin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aššur-iddin succeeded his father Qibi-Aššur Grand Vizier ( akk .: sukkallu rabi'u) under Tukulti-Ninurta I. He began his career in the Assyrian state apparatus under his predecessor Salmānu-ašarēd I and then rose quickly. He was responsible for the administration of the province of Ḫanigalbat , which he ruled first from Waššukanni and then mainly from the provincial capital Dur Katlimmu . Several of his documents, written on clay tablets , also come from Dur Katlimmu, today's Tell Schech Hamad in Syria . He had three sons, who in turn also held high positions in the Assyrian state.
