The AIDC XC-2 is a transport aircraft produced by the Taiwanese manufacturer Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) .

History and construction

In 1973, the Taiwanese company AIDC began developing a civil transport aircraft. The machine was designed as a shoulder-wing aircraft. In order to meet both civil and military requirements, the XC-2 had a drivable rear ramp, similar to the CASA C-212 . The aircraft had a retractable nose wheel landing gear , whereby the main landing gear was retracted into the box-shaped fuselage on both sides and could land and take off again on unprepared runways. The prototype, powered by two turboprop engines, took off for the first time on February 26, 1978. With a crew of three (two pilots, 1 flight engineer), the machine could transport 38 passengers or 3855 kg of cargo.

The XC-2 was not built in series due to a lack of interest from potential customers.
