The Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (漢 翔 航空 工業 股份有限公司) (AIDC for short) emerged from the Air Force of the Republic of China (Taiwan ) in 1969 and was integrated into the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (CIST) in 1983 .

The focus is on the design, development , manufacture and maintenance of aircraft. Propulsion and avionics are also developed. The Bell UH-1 helicopter (1969–1976) and the Northrop F-5 fighter (1973–1986) were produced under license . AIDC developed the AT-3 Tsu Chiang Advanced Jet Trainer (1975-1989) and the AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF).
