Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund
The Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund ( AMIF ) is the most important financial instrument of the European Union in the field of asylum , migration and integration policy . It was established in April 2014 for the period from 2014 to 2020 and replaced the European Refugee Fund , the European Integration Fund and the European Return Fund .
Registered legal entities under private or public law and international organizations can apply for project-related grants from the AMIF.
Focus
The fund has three main areas:
- Common European Asylum System,
- Integration of third country nationals and legal migration ,
- Return.
The fund covers the funding period 2014 to 2020 and will replace the four individual funds from the 2007-2013 program Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows (SOLID) from 2014 :
- European Refugee Fund (EFF) ,
- European Integration Fund (EIF) ,
- European Return Fund (RF) and
- European External Borders Fund (AGF) .
The goals are similar to those of the SOLID program, but with changes in the content and implementation.
By providing AMIF funds for states that accept refugees from other member states and from non-EU countries, they serve the solidarity of the member states with one another in the area of asylum policy .
Funding period 2014 to 2020
The budget of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund is set at 3.1 billion euros for this first seven-year funding period. At least 20% of the funds that the member states receive from it are to be used for measures for the integration of migrants and for the promotion of legal immigration .
