AMK Arnold Müller GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of electrical drive and control technology in Kirchheim unter Teck .

Companies

AMK (for Arnold Müller Kirchheim ) is a provider of drive solutions for mechanical engineering and the automotive industry.

Drive and control technology

The electrical drive and control technology is the original core business of AMK. The company develops and produces highly dynamic servo drive solutions, from servomotors to centralized and decentralized servo converters to motion controllers.

Automotive

In the automotive sector, air spring compressors, air suspension systems and power steering drives are developed and produced.

history

In 1963 Arnold Müller began producing built-in and special motors. He was particularly interested in specific products. This resulted in new developments in the field of electrical drive and control technology. In 1967 AMK developed the first continuously variable three-phase motor. As early as 1983 AMK brought the digital three-phase drive technology to series production. For this AMK was awarded the innovation prize of the state of Baden-Württemberg . In 1992 the company succeeded in integrating the PLC control into the drive before this technology became common on the market.

In 1998, with the establishment of the automotive sector, the tire inflation compressor was developed. With this device and a sealant, tires with slight damage can be made ready to drive again.

In 1999, AMK developed a motor with an integrated frequency converter as a ready-to-connect unit. This structure enabled decentralized installation and saved space. This motor was the forerunner of the further development that went into series production in 2006, the AMKASMART IDT. With the AMKASMART IDT, the high-torque motor, servo controller and angle encoder are combined as a ready-to-connect unit in one device.

In 2005, Lothar Späth awarded AMK the "TOP 100" award for the most innovative medium-sized companies.

In June 2016, the company announced that the Chinese Zhongding Group was taking over the company.

In 2018, the Irish manufacturer of air suspension systems Drive-Rite became part of the company.
