AMSN is the MSN Messenger modeled free software that makes it possible, in the MSN Messenger network to connect and to chat about it with other people.

history

On May 22, 2002, Alvaro Iradier published the first aMSN version, the source code of which was based on the ccmsn project . ccmsn had only rudimentary support for conversations within the MSN network, which is why Iradier decided to expand the project on his own. One of his main goals was to come as close as possible to the operation and appearance of the MSN Messenger. Thus, those who change should have it as easy as possible to find their way around this program.

After several successful publications of their joint commitment, Didimo E. Grimaldo decided to leave as a developer due to other urgent tasks and lack of time. ccMSN / aMSN was actually the last of several free open source projects that Didimo was working on.

Later other developers, such as Philippe G. Khalaf and later Younes Alaoui, joined the project. Today, thanks to the efforts and help of a growing number of developers, translators and designers, the project continues.

aMSN is known for being quick to implement most of the features of the official client and is often the only third-party client that fully supports them. For example, it's the only client that supports video conferencing on Mac. It has been reviewed by many software-specialized websites. Its publications have appeared on several well-known blogs, and the developers have been interviewed, and it has even appeared in some TV series internationally.
