AN / ALQ-167

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AN / ALQ-167 is an airborne system for electronic countermeasures at medium range. It is produced by the US corporations Rodale Electronics and ITT .

description

The ALQ-167 is designed to disrupt radar-based threats of all kinds and is used in conjunction with the AN / ULQ-21 countermeasure system. It is housed in an external container and can therefore easily be attached to a suitable weapon station under the wings of the carrier aircraft. The system is almost completely modular, so that a wide variety of disruptive technologies can be implemented and combined. Due to its flexibility, the ALQ-167 is also used extensively for testing ECCM concepts and for training crews.
