ARC Standard Raster Product

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ARC Standard Raster Product (ASRP) is a standard for encoding geographic data described in a document of the Digital Geographic Information Working Group (DGIWG).

ASRP used the Equal ARC Second Raster Chart (ARC) projection.

The DGIWG is an international association of various national institutions dealing with military mapping . Germany is represented in this working group for the standardization of a digital geographic data format that can be used for civil and military purposes by the Office for Military Geosystems (new: Office for Geographic Information Systems of the Bundeswehr ) in Euskirchen. The working group also includes organizations from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Great Britain, the United States and the Chief Geographic Officer of the NATO headquarters SHAPE from Brussels.

The standard relates to the recording, processing and reproduction of geographic information data. The standard defines the data structure, the file structure, format and recording criteria for recording gridless geographic data according to the WGS84 standard (World Geodetic System 1984).

Version 1.2 of the specification appeared in March 1995 and version 1.1 in May 1993.
