ATA iSpec 2200

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ATA iSpec 2200 is a standard of the Air Transport Association that has been regulating technical documentation in the aviation industry since its publication in 2000 as the successor to Spec 100 and Spec 2100.

Step by step, the new set of rules for technical documentation is gaining ground in the aviation industry. Leading European manufacturers also require documentation according to ATA iSpec 2200 for new commercial aircraft. The new standard not only brings with it enormous potential for rationalization, the changeover also requires new tools (software) and methods. Because the ATA iSpec 2200 relies on the SGML metalanguage to define the manual structures and as the basis for data exchange between companies .

history

ATA Spec 100 was officially released in 1956.

ATA Spec 2100 focused on electronic data exchange implemented in SGML .

iSpec 2200 was released in 2000.

Numbering system

In it, an aircraft is first divided into systems and then numbered down to the smallest individual part. A large number of documents - from the system description to the manual for the flight crew - are available at the end of the process. The same information is prepared here in a way that is appropriate for the target group - a possible starting point for cost-saving processing methods.

advantages

The SGML -based documentation not only allows to easily integrate information from different manufacturers into its own system. The information can also be designed with your own layout.

  • more quality
  • more efficiency
  • lower costs through uniformity
