ATM25

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ATM25 is an ATM ( Asynchronous Transfer Mode ) version in which the data is transferred at 25.6 Mbit / s, which is significantly less than the 155 Mbit / s initially intended for ATM. ATM25 has no special features compared to other ATM versions. However, ATM25 chipsets are inexpensive compared to fast ATM chipsets, so that ATM technology (for example ATM25 switches ) became available for the noble SOHO sector . However, such systems are not widely used because Ethernet has established itself as the first choice in this area.

The WAN connection of ATM25 systems is often made using a fast DSL variant such as RADSL . DSL is basically the right choice here, as DSL is essentially an ATM-based technology .
