Eel lip

Eel lip (left)

The eel lip or tang is a roof-shaped fishing gear made of slats , covered with nets on both sides and on two long sides and open on one side, which is attached to a long pole.

The eels are driven into the eel lip by a driver with the help of a long- handled T-shaped plumper stick, from where they are brought into nets by another fisherman . Tangling is no longer practiced today.

Tangling is considered a very gentle method of catching eel.
