Abbotsbury Railway

The Abbotsbury Railway was a British railway company based in Dorset .

The company received on August 6, 1877 the right to build a railway line from Upwey to Abbotsbury . The 10.4 km long line branching off the Dorchester - Weymouth railway line was opened on November 9, 1885. Society never made it into the black. On August 7, 1896, the Great Western Railway took over the company by law.
