The Abkhazian apsar ( Abkhazian Аҧсар ; Russian Апсар ) is, alongside the Russian ruble, one of the two official currencies of the Republic of Abkhazia, which is internationally recognized only by a few countries .

The apsary was introduced in 2008, but the common currency is still the ruble, and the apsary is still uncommon in Abkhazia. He is not recognized outside of Abkhazia and has only limited convertibility . That is why it does not have an ISO 4217 code . There are only 10 and 50 Apsar coins, silver and gold are used as the material for the coins. The material costs thus clearly exceed the solvency of a coin. The motifs are mostly known Abkhazians or national symbols of Abkhazia. The exchange rate of the apsar is tied to the Russian ruble, 1 apsar is equivalent to 10 rubles. It is issued by the National Bank of Abkhazia . A 500 Apsar banknote was issued in September 2018.
