Evaporation residue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The evaporation residue or dry residue is a parameter in water analysis . It determines the mass concentration of the substances dissolved in the water without the proportion of volatile substances . The value is usually given in the unit mg / l. It is important to distinguish between the two values total dry residue and filtrate dry residue .

Variants of the parameter

Total dry residue

The total dry residue determines the amount of all non-volatile substances contained in the water.

Filtrate dry residue

Like the total dry residue, the filtrate dry residue determines the amount of non-volatile substances in the water. In contrast to this, only the dissolved substances are measured.
