Aberdeen and Briar Patch Railway

The Aberdeen and Briar Patch Railway ( AAR reporting mark: ABPR) was an American railroad company based in North Carolina . The company owned by Willard Formyduval was based in Aberdeen, North Carolina .

The Norfolk Southern Railway decided in the early 1980s to shut down the line from Aberdeen to Star . Then the Aberdeen and Briar Patch Railway was founded on August 1, 1983. In 1984 the line began operating. On June 19, 1987 the Aberdeen, Carolina and Western Railway took over the entire fixed assets of ABPR.

Mainly wood products, fertilizers, building materials and liquefied gas were transported on the 55 kilometer long railway line. The company owned a used EMD GP7 as well as 20 boxcars and three container cars.
