An exhaust hose is a flexible hose and is used to exhaust gases , the current generators eject, automotive engines and other equipment with a combustion engine, divert the operator. It is also used to extract welding fumes, since high temperatures, toxic or polluting exhaust gases and considerable visual impairment can also occur here.

Usually exhaust hoses are used together with an extraction system. In addition to the exhaust gases, fresh air is then also extracted. The fresh air cools the exhaust gases down, so that simple plastic hoses can also be used in devices with relatively high exhaust gas temperatures. The manufacturers then usually point out an absolutely necessary supply of fresh air and the use of, for example, exhaust funnels. In addition, a slight negative pressure constantly acts on the hoses due to the suction. This ensures that minor leaks in the hose wall do not lead to exhaust gases escaping.

Since exhaust hoses are often used on engine test stands or welding smoke has to be sucked in on mobile units , these hoses can sometimes be driven over or stepped on.
