Abingdon Railway

The Abingdon Railway was a British railway company based in Oxfordshire .

The company was founded on June 15, 1855 to connect the city of Abingdon (Oxfordshire) with the Oxford-Didcot railway. On June 2, 1856, the 3.2 km long line to Culham opened in the broad gauge of 2140 mm. The following year, the line was extended by 1.2 kilometers to connect to the existing line in Radley .

From April 19, 1860, the Great Western Railway operated the line and finally took over the company on August 15, 1904.
