According to REFA, the process planning describes the tasks to be mastered in order to achieve a goal and their sequence. In the process planning, you specify the subtasks, the sequence of process sections that are required for a targeted implementation of the tasks.

The provision of the process sections with durations then forms the basis for a work plan . This in turn forms the basis for scheduling when dates are calculated from the time durations when processing an order .

In business administration, process planning is a synonym for sequence planning .
