Proof of delivery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The proof of delivery ( English Proof of Delivery or POD for short ) is a document accompanying the goods with which the proper delivery of a consignment is proven. It is issued by the transport company and acknowledged by the recipient when the goods are delivered. In the case of obvious defects in the goods, these must be noted by the recipient on the proof of delivery upon delivery in order to secure any claims for damage to the transport company. It is used in the freight forwarding industry and in the courier express parcel service . With many transport service providers, proof of delivery can now be called up by the sender over the Internet. In the meantime, the electronic form by means of acknowledgment on a signature pad is also common.
