About Blank

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The About Blank (spelling: // about blank ) is a techno club in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain .

history

The blank was opened in 2010 and is managed by a collective of equal members according to its own information. The team is explicitly looking for female bouncers. Like most other techno clubs in Berlin, the Blank regularly opens both on Saturday night and on Sunday night around midnight, although different series of parties with different concepts take place. There are also various cultural events during the week.

The lease is currently limited to 2020, but it may be extended. The club could then be affected by the expansion of the federal motorway 100 .

The club took part in the “ United We Stream ” campaign of the Berlin club scene, which suffered massive losses due to the measures taken against COVID-19 .

reception

The club has been the subject of national and international reporting for years. In the user ranking of the Internet portal for electronic music Resident Advisor , the club is rated as one of the twelve most popular in Berlin (as of April 2016).

The journalist and author Tim Mohr begins his 2017 book Don't Die in the Waiting Room of the Future: The East German Punks and the Fall of the Wall with the description of About Blank.
