Abricotine

The abricotine is also called eau-de-vie d'abricot du Valais and is a fruit brandy made from Valais apricots . It is made from the Luizet variety , as the climate in Valais allows this variety to be grown well; almost 98 percent of Swiss apricot cultures are in the canton of Valais . It is a protected designation of origin ( Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) ).

  • Alcohol content: approx. 40 percent by volume .
  • Characteristics: strong taste of the fruit and the distillate, with a hint of bitter almond.

A product of the same name was produced by the Garnier distillery in Enghien-les-Bains in northern France.
