abroadband
abroadband was a data roaming product from the former Telekom Austria Group (now A1 Telekom Austria Group ). abroadband was presented by the Telekom Austria Group in February 2011 during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The abroadband services were discontinued on April 1st, 2014. abroadband products can no longer be purchased or used.
Product and availability
abroadband covered surfing in 62 countries around the world at a uniform price of 0.54 euros per MB (including VAT) and was available as a SIM card, a micro-SIM card and a modem box with SIM card and USB modem available. The product could be purchased in the online shop, on board certain airlines and at airports. The dispatch took place in the EU member states as well as Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
abroadband was a postpaid product with no contractual commitment periods. Customers could use the online manager to check the costs incurred, manage data and access invoices. Payment was made by credit card or PayPal .
With abroadband you could surf with mobile devices independently of a specific mobile operator. Depending on the technology, different download speeds were achieved: EDGE up to 473.6 kbps, UMTS up to 3.6 Mbps and HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps.
Abroadband initially cost 59 cents per MB; since July 1, 2013 the price has been 54 cents. However, the service was discontinued on April 1, 2014; abroadband customers were able to use the offer until March 31, 2014.

The prerequisite for the connection with abroadband was network coverage with a mobile communications partner in the respective country.
