As a cutback in is streets and - civil engineering in Germany, the terracing 12 understood according to the ZTVA-StB parallel to the trench or pit edge. In the case of widening within the trench (e.g. due to shafts, excavations, etc.), the cut should be made at right angles.

Because of the loosening of the edge zones, the paved surface and, if applicable, the bound base courses must be cut back to the extent of loosening after the unbound base courses have been installed, but at least

  • For trench depths <2.00 m, 15 cm on both sides
  • For trench depths> 2.00 m, 20 cm on both sides

Subsequently, the loosened edge zones of the unbound base courses must be re-compacted. If these measures are neglected or improperly carried out, damage to the road surface is to be expected in the later course of time.
