Abu Reyhan-e-Birooni Observatory

The Abu Reyhan-e-Birooni Observatory is the observatory of the University of Shiraz in Iran .

Yousef Sobooti and Edward Francis Guinan made the proposal for construction in 1969. Construction began in 1973. The observatory was put into operation in March 1977. It was named after the polymath Abu Raihan al-Biruni .

It is the largest operating telescope in Iran.
