Axis jump (railway)

Under axis jump refers to the arrangement of the through main lines of a single-track crossing railway tracks in such a way that the sliding axes are arranged offset on both sides of the station against each other.

If the planning is based on the assumption that all trains will stop at the station, the arrangement shown in Fig. 210 is to be preferred for right-hand traffic, in which the trains only go through the bends of the turnouts when they exit, i.e. at low speed.
