The ACTEGA division, which is merged under ACTEGA GmbH , is one of Altana’s four divisions . He develops and produces special paints, printing inks, adhesives and sealants with a focus on the packaging, printing, consumer goods and healthcare industries. In 2019, Actega achieved sales of € 357.7 million with just under 1,150 employees worldwide.

history

The first company of today's ACTEGA was founded as a producer of sealants in 1906 under the name La Artística in Spain. The name was changed to ACTEGA Artística in 2007 as part of a reorganization of Altana AG.

In 1915, ACTEGA Rhenania was founded as Rhenania Chemische Gesellschaft mbH in Grevenbroich. Originally the company produced paints for the wallpaper industry, since the mid-80s ACTEGA Rhenania has been concentrating on special paints and adhesives for packaging.

In 1920, today's ACTEGA DS was founded in Germany as the oil trading company Diersch & Schröder . Renamed to DS-Chemie GmbH in 1965, sealing compounds for packaging became the company's main business twelve years later. Since 2010 DS has also been developing and producing plastic granulates for medical technology and injection molding applications in the consumer goods industry, this area is referred to as MPC (Medical Pharma and Consumer Goods) at DS.

Founded as Joachim Dyes Lackfabrik GmbH in 1950, what is now ACTEGA Terra GmbH in Lehrte near Hanover focuses on the production of overprint varnishes. In 2002 the company was renamed Terra Lacke , and since 2007 the company has been called ACTEGA Terra.

Founded in 1987 as a manufacturer of overprint varnishes , Kelstar International (USA) was renamed ACTEGA Kelstar in 2007 . ACTEGA Wit , which developed from a merger with ACTEGA Radcure in 2011, produced overprint varnishes and adhesives with a focus on narrow web printing . ACTEGA Kelstar and ACTEGA Wit have been forming ACTEGA North America together since 2016 .

ACTEGA Rhenacoat (France) was created in 1993 from the takeover of the coil coating division of the Akzo Group (Montataire site). In 2001 the Can Coating business of the French private company Blancomme was added at the Sedan location. ACTEGA Rhenacoat has been concentrating exclusively on the production of coatings for metal packaging since 2004.

ACTEGA Foshan was founded in China in 1998 and specializes in the field of packaging coatings.

ACTEGA, with ACTEGA GmbH as the management company, has existed since 2007. At that time, the above-mentioned companies formed the Altana division. In 2014, ACTEGA Overlake (founded in 1993) and ACTEGA Premiata (founded in 2000) from Brazil were added. These companies focus on the paint and printing ink industry.
