Acutia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Acutia was a Roman noblewoman who came from the Acutier plebeian family and lived in the 1st century AD .

Acutia was the wife of Publius Vitellius , who was involved in the fall of Sejan in AD 31 and died soon after through suicide or illness. Laelius Balbus charged Acutia with lese majesty in AD 37 and obtained her conviction, but it is not recorded that she was also executed at that time. Rather, Iunius Otho , as the tribune of the people , vetoed the Senate resolution, according to which the successful prosecutor should receive a reward.
