Adambier , is a slightly sour historical beer from Dortmund , which is brewed in top-fermentation with a high original wort content and traditionally stored for up to two years before bottling.

On a label from 1864 it was described as follows:

The Adambier is a very strong, but mild and pleasant tasting, wine-like drink; it is usually already two years old when it is sent, can then be kept for years and becomes better and better with storage. If consumed to a small extent, it is an excellent drink for weak, exhausted people; ...

The word Adambier has been trademarked by the revived Dortmund Bergmann Brewery , so that other breweries in Germany like The Monarchy , who brew an Adambier, sell it under alternative names like Methuselah .
