Adblock is a historical ad blocker from the time Mozilla Firefox was created .
What was new about Adblock was that advertisements could no longer be recognized by the dimensions of images but by the addresses of ad servers . Adblock was designed to completely download websites as intended by their creators, but not to display advertisements contained in the download.
Wladimir Palant rewrote Adblock to Adblock Plus . Michael Gundlach wrote AdBlock based on his model .
