Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions (former name: Adobe Reader Extension Server ) is a product of Adobe Inc. , with the specific functionalities of the Reader Adobe may be unlocked. By default, Adobe Reader only allows you to display and print out PDF documents. Further functions such as inserting comments, saving and sending completed forms and generating digital signatures are available in the reader, but can only be used in documents that have been specifically activated for this purpose. ES stands for Enterprise Suite .

During activation, a data structure is inserted into the document that contains flags for the activated functions and an RSA signature for parts of the document. In 2003, Elcomsoft identified gaps in this process that enable reader extensions to be activated without a Reader Extension Server license.
