The Advocard legal expenses insurance AG (lat. Advocatus , the addition Called , dt. Lawyer ) is an association founded on 14 November 1968 as Volksfürsorge legal expenses insurance AG legal expenses insurer . Like Volksfürsorge , it was union-owned when it was founded. The company is based in Hamburg .

In 1987, in connection with the Neue Heimat scandal, it was sold to what was then the AachenMünchener holding company. Today Advocard is part of Generali Germany .

At this point in time, the “Advocard” legal protection card, known mainly from radio and television advertising with Manfred Krug, was introduced. At the time, Manfred Krug played the lawyer Robert Liebling in the ARD television series Liebling Kreuzberg . From this, the marketing strategists developed the slogan "Advocard is lawyers' favorite".

Due to the success of the “Advocard” legal protection card, the company was renamed Advocard Rechtsschutzversicherung AG in 1990 . In the same year, Advocard moved into its own new building in Hamburg. The Advocard is now located together with other parts of the Generali Group in a shared building not far from Hamburg's main train station.

Advocard has a market share of around 6% in the legal expenses insurer market.
