Aelius Fortis

Aelius Fortis (his prenomen is unknown) was a member of the Roman army living in the 2nd century AD .

An inscription that was found at Böhming Castle and that is dated 181 shows that Fortis Centurio was the Legio III Italica . The inscription also proves that he was Praepositus of the Cohors I Breucorum , who was stationed in the province of Raetia at that time .

The inscription also shows that Fortis supervised construction work at the fort, during which the gates and four towers were repaired.
