Afrasiab

The Iranian name Afrasiab , also Afrāsijāb ( Persian افراسياب, DMG Afrāsiyāb ) means:

  • a figure from Iranian mythology, see Afrasiab (myth)
  • an ancient city in today's Uzbekistan, see Afrasiab (city)
  • two Atabegs of Greater Luristan from the Hazaraspid dynasty : Afrasiyab I (r. 1288–1296) and Afrasiyab II. (r. 1339–1355)
  • an emir of Basra in the 17th century, largely independent of the Ottomans, see Afrasiyab (Basra)
