Zambian African National Congress

The Zambian African National Congress (abbreviation ZANC ; German  Zambian African National Congress ) was a political party in Northern Rhodesia , today's Zambia , which split off from the Northern Rhodesian African National Congress in 1958 .

Their goal was to enforce the rights of the black population.

The President of ZANC was Kenneth Kaunda . This party only existed for a few months, because in 1959 the ZANC was banned by the British colonial government. The following year, after being released from prison, Kaunda joined the United National Independence Party (UNIP).
